Having lived in both, now in N.C., I can say I really like this state. From the western Blue Ridge Mountains to the ocean on the eastern coast. There is so much history in both states. You can't help but fall in love wiht Charleston, S.C. and the houses on the Battery. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Rob, it is near Myrtle Beach and that place is very touristy. This is a small town that has an old (for this country) town center. The Waccamaw river flows through it which is black from pine tar. You can see the "Spanish Moss" hanging from the trees. Very "Southern".

It looks beautiful! When looking at my map I noticed that Myrtle Beach is nearby, isn't that place very touristy?
